Johns Brothers to Partner for First Event of 2025 Despite Announced Split

Ben Johns and Collin Johns, who recently revealed their decision to end their partnership, will still team up for the opening event of the 2025 PPA Tour.

The brothers are set to compete together at The Masters in Palm Springs, California, starting January 6.

Ben shared news of their split on December 21, mentioning he had yet to finalize new partners for the upcoming season.

Although both brothers were initially listed separately on The Masters entry list, signaling their search for new teammates, they were officially paired as partners on Monday.

Rumors swirled about potential collaborations for Ben in 2025, but many players already committed to other partners for The Masters, leaving little room for adjustments ahead of the tournament.

The season opener, which doubles as the first Slam event of the year, is expected to be the last time the Johns brothers play together competitively.

Over the past four seasons, the duo has achieved remarkable success, amassing 33 doubles titles and 43 total medals. However, by their exceptional standards, 2024 proved challenging.

While they secured seven titles, surpassing any other team, the number marked a decline compared to their back-to-back 10+ gold medal seasons in 2022 and 2023.

Additionally, they faced more defeats in 2024 than in the previous two years combined.

Reflecting on their decision to part ways, Ben expressed gratitude for their journey as a team. “We’ve accomplished so much together, and I’m incredibly proud of our achievements,” he told Pickleball.com.

“Sometimes, changes in life and sports bring a fresh perspective. This decision allows us to rediscover purpose, embrace variety, and reignite our passion for the game we love.”

Following The Masters, the next stop on the tour is the Veolia Southern California Open, beginning January 21 in Fountain Valley, California.
