India showcased its prowess at the US Open Pickleball Championship, clinching an impressive total of 10 medals.
Among the standout performers were Stavya Bhasin, Dhiren Patel, and Hemal Jain, who secured gold medals in their respective categories.
Pickleball, akin to badminton but played with a solid paddle and a plastic ball featuring holes, served as the battleground for these remarkable achievements.
The tournament, held in Florida from April 14-20, witnessed India’s stellar performance, culminating in three gold, three silver, and four bronze medals.
Stavya Bhasin’s triumph in the junior singles category, Dhiren Patel’s dominance in the men’s singles 5.0, and Hemal Jain’s victory in the men’s singles 3.5 were the crowning moments for the Indian contingent.
Bhasin’s excellence extended further as he secured a silver medal in the men’s doubles 5.0 category, along with bronze medals in both the junior men’s doubles and junior mixed doubles events, concluding the tournament with an impressive tally of four medals.
Ronav Motiani also made significant contributions, bagging two silver medals in the men’s doubles 5.0 and junior singles categories, in addition to a bronze in junior men’s doubles.
Himanshu Dewaskar’s bronze in men’s singles 5.0 added to India’s medal count, propelling them into double digits.
Furthermore, Harsh Mehta and Aman Bhatia showcased their skills, finishing fifth in the men’s pro doubles category.
India’s stellar performance underscores its growing prominence in the international pickleball scene, marking a significant milestone in the sport’s journey within the country.
